The shot is great, and your title perfectly summarizes the nuances here. What kind of camera do you have?

OMG, Billie, this is *amazing*!! It's so crisp, and the hair is so crazy.

Holy cow, what a shot! That hair does really jump out at you.

This is an amazing action shot. It's surreal, really. The hair flying... Also, the white background makes the action really stand out.

Thanks, everyone. I like this shot, too. I just happened to be lucky with this shot. Sports photography can be tricky-- as the action can happen so quickly. But my daughter played soccer for years, and I've been a referee for quite some time. I know what to anticipate (at least some of the time). I happened to be sitting on the ground near the goal and the boys were running toward the goal. It was a lucky shot. :-)

Beth, I use a Nikon D-50, and I have a 300mm lens for this type of photograph.
